Nothing says "recycled timber" quite like railway sleepers.
The holes from the railway spikes are characteristic of the timbers’ colourful past and the wide, robust boards command a bold and earthy respect. They are an exciting product with a huge scope for creativity and individualistic design. The use of railway sleepers for decking, screening or landscaping creates an unrivaled style of organic charm. Price
$250 per m2 / $50 per LM inc GST. Current lead time. Approximately 12 weeks+ on standard orders. |
Colour and Species.
Unless otherwise specified, the decking boards are supplied in a random mix of colour that we loosely classify as reds, browns or creams.
Typical species include ironbark - both red and grey, turpentine, redgum, tallowwood, stringybark etc.
Note: even within a specific colour selection, there will still be a lot of variance - every batch is different. Use the project photos below to see how different they can be.
Selecting a preferred colour mix does not affect price but will often affect lead time.

Sleeper Decking Boards
Size.
Our railway sleeper decking boards are supplied at a finished size of 200 x 25mm in random lengths from 900mm. Generally, the maximum lengths are 2100 / 2400 / 2700mm, depending on the origin of the sleeper. (Surcharges apply for full length requests). |
Finish.
The boards are dressed on all four faces. They have a smooth finish, however, it is important to remember that there will always be an element of roughness around the holes from the railway spikes. Coating. All of our decking is supplied raw. There are an abundance of deck oils on the market, all of which have their pros and cons. It is worth noting that regardless of the coating, ALL timber will change colour when exposed to the elements of sun, rain and foot traffic. With time, it can be difficult to tell the original colour of the timber. |
