Hardwood Decking Tile FAQ’S
Do you have to nail or screw the connector to the floor?
No. The connectors allow you to place the tiles in position and float on existing surface.
What if the area is not a perfect square? Can they be cut to size?
The tiles are very easy to cut in one direction (parallel to the slats), but not so simple in the other direction. We also sell border tiles, which are roughly half a tile wide.
What colours do they come in?
They generally come in mixed Reds or Mixed Creams. They can also be stained provided you order them "un-oiled."
What size are they?
500 x 500 x 38 (plus connector 4mm).
350 x 350 x 38
How do I cut the connectors for edges and corners?
There is a score line on the underside of each connector. You simply run a utility knife (Stanley knife) along the score line and snap them in half for edges or quarters for corners.
Can you stain the tiles?
Absolutely, just ask for the to be supplied "RAW".
What type of timber is used?
Mixed Creams – eg. Blackbutt, tallowwood, grey ironbark.
Mixed Reds & Browns – eg. Ironbark, turpentine, red gum.
Can they be cut to size?
It is easier to cut in the same direction as the boards.
Sizes would be as follows:
1 board - 65mm, 2 boards - 135mm, 3 boards - 208mm, 4 boards - 275mm, 5 boards - 350mm, 6 boards - 425mm, 7 boards 495mm

The standard size is 500 x 500mm, or 350x350mm.
We also make border tiles and under certain circumstances, we can also do custom orders.
Do you do installation?
We don’t do installation, however, if you live in the Sydney metro area we do have installers we can refer you to. They really are a very easy DIY product - we will have a "how to" video available soon.
How heavy are the tiles?
Each 500 x 500mm tile is roughly 4.5kg.
Do they need to be screwed in ?
No. Both the tiles and the connectors simply "float" over the surface underneath.
Can they be laid on road base or grass?
The tiles really need to be laid on a hard surface that allows drainage so the the timber is not constantly in contact with moisture.
Can you pack away and store as needed?
Yes, as there is no screwing in you can lift them and pack away or take with you if you move.
Do they come with a guarantee or warranty?
They do not come with any guarantee per say, however if any tile is faulty, we will happily replace it / them.
Can you make custom sizes?
Under certain circumstances, yes.
Do I need to re-oil them straight away?
They come with pre oiled with one coat of of a natural UV Protectant decking oil. We do recommend re-coating them very soon after purchase, especially in areas with high exposure to the weather.
What if the dimensions are not the same as my area?
There are a few options. You can either cut down full tiles to fit, buy border tiles or most commonly, you can fill in spaces with pebbles or rocks and make it a feature.
How often do I need to re oil them?
It really depends on the exposure, but like all decking timber, once a year is probably a good guideline.
They are supplied with one coat of oil to protect them and we recommend coating them with another 2 coats soon after purchase.
What if my ground isn’t level?
The tiles and connectors are quite forgiving when going over un-level areas and you can also pack under the connectors if needed, but certainly a flat, level, hard surface is ideal.
How do you secure the tiles in place?
Once on the connectors, the tiles rarely move. Each tile weighs about 4.5kg, so when they are connected to each other they become very solid.
Are the connectors raised?
The connectors are about 3-4mm high, which is enough to raise the timber off the ground and allow for drainage.
Adjustable pedestal connectors do exist on the market and our tiles are relatively compatible with them but we do not supply these ourselves.
Can I put them on a rooftop?
Absolutely – providing the weight is ok, our tiles are perfect for rooftops as they can float over a water-proofing membrane without the risk of damaging it and can also be easily lifted should the need arise.
What do I do if i get mould on them?
As with any decking product, the tiles can be easily cleaned with any "deck-wash" products on the market.

They come with pre oiled with one coat of of a natural UV Protectant decking oil.
