Kiln drying
The next stage of the process is kiln drying. Individual stacks
are transferred to the kilns, where warm air is evenly forced
through the stacks to reduce the moisture content even further.
The timber is tested on a daily basis to ensure it reaches its
optimum moisture content. This process can take from 4 to 14
days. Samples of each sling are weighed, measured and tested
against Australian standards.
After the timber is removed from the kiln,
it takes about 48hours to adjust to its environment and acclimatise.
